The Approval Letter

The Approval Letter
May 10, 2023

Last week, on blog day, I was still waiting to hear back about whether our next IVF cycle would be approved by Kaiser or not. The very next day, I received the approval letter!

I wasn’t overly worried the procedure would be declined, but it was in the back of my mind that it was a possibility. So once I saw it was approved, there was a small sigh of relief.

I reached out to our IVF nurse to get the plan moving forward. She asked me to refill my birth control prescription so I could started that Thursday.

Of course it couldn’t have been that easy though… there were a few issues with the prescription I wasn’t aware of until I went to pick it up on Thursday. Our nurse sent in a new script the next day, and I was able to get started on Friday.

Fortunately, that delay didn’t really affect the rest of my schedule.

My first bloodwork/ultrasound appointment will be on Wedneday, May 17, and I will likely start my injections on Thursday, May 18.

Once again, it looks like the egg retrieval date will be right around our wedding anniversary. (Sorry, Nick, looks like you’ll have to settle for a Happy Anniversary fist bump this year…)

While I’m not really looking forward to doing this again, I’m ready to get started so we can it over with. I’m really hopeful this will be the last time we have to do an egg retrieval.
