Still Waiting…

Today, it’s been 14 days since my doctor sent the referral for our next IVF cycle. When I checked in with Kaiser’s member support team last week, they said referrals can take up to two weeks to process.

Since it’s now day 14, I decided to check in again.

The customer service rep I spoke with said the referral still shows as pending, and to wait until the end of the day to see if it comes through.

And if it doesn’t?

“You can check back in with us tomorrow.”

Well, it looks like I’ll be bugging member support again tomorrow, because here we are, end of day, and no approval (or declination) letter.

My nurse also checked in. Ideally, IVF Day 2 would be tomorrow, but I can’t move forward until the referral goes through.

The one plus is that I’ll continue on birth control, so I won’t have to wait until my next period to get started.

I’ve never been known for my patience, so this part is tough. I’m just ready to move forward — complete the horrible, no-good egg retrieval process again so we can finally move on to the part where I (hopefully) get pregnant.

Have I mentioned lately there’s a whole lot of hurry up and wait in this process?

  1. Hi Julie. My prayers and thoughts are with you on this journey. I know all too well about the hurry up and wait process. I’ve been waiting for my period since having scar tissue removed. In finally reaching out to the office, they prescribed Provera for 10 days. I I have 3 days left of the Provera but still no period. But I need to get my period before I can go for my next saline ultrasound as well as a biopsy to make sure that there is no more scar tissue as well as to make sure things are healthy enough to move forward with an ivf cycle. So when you say hurry up and wait, I can relate. Just know you are not alone on this journey.
