An Auspicious Day

Well readers, today’s the day… for a couple of things. First, today is Nick’s and my sixth wedding anniversary. While it may be cliché to say, it’s absolutely true: Time certainly does fly.

It seems like just yesterday when Nick (then only known to me as @ShakeandBake25 on the dating app Plenty of Fish) sent me a message and invited me to a Rockies game.

While I didn’t go to that game (maybe I’ll delve into that story for you later), we did meet for coffee the next morning, and the rest, as they say, is history.

As I usually do around this time I’ve year, I’ve been looking back at a few of our wedding pictures and rewatching our wedding highlight video.

It truly was an incredible day with our family and friends.

What an amazing day!

How are we planning to celebrate, you ask? Well, that brings me to the other reason today’s the day…

Nick’s celebrating by working, and I’m celebrating by having an egg retrieval procedure. Nick had to leave much earlier than usual so he could go to the clinic before work and do his part.

Neither is the most fun way to spend our anniversary, but we’re both doing what we need to do today to hopefully start our family.

I wonder what I’d tell 30-year-old Julie if I could go back and give her advice on her wedding day… Would I share about all the ups and downs of the marriage? Would I tell her about the struggles she and Nick would face trying to start their family? Would I tell her about the miscarriage?

I don’t know if I’d share all that, but I do know I’d tell her she has an amazing man beside her, and, no matter what comes, she couldn’t have chosen a better partner to go through life with.

Well, it’s time to get ready so we can head to the clinic. Wish us luck!
